"Dazhynki" is a folk holiday that has been celebrated in Belarus for many years. It is held in the middle of summer, usually in August, at harvest time. "Dazhynki" is a Belarusian word that translates as "clusters" or "sheaves of grain", which symbolizes a rich harvest.
The celebration of "Dazhynok" begins with a parade and an exhibition of folk crafts, which presents products made of wood, ceramics, weaving and other crafts. Also at the festival you can see folk dances and songs, folk games, attractions and fairs.
One of the main attributes of the Dazhynki holiday is a folk costume, in which local residents participate in festive events. On this day, you can try many Belarusian national dishes, such as draniki, kurnik, dumplings, belyashi and many others.
Dazhynki is a holiday that unites people of all ages and social strata, helps to preserve the traditions and culture of the Belarusian people, as well as celebrate a successful harvest and give thanks for it.
