You cannot copy someone else's heroism, you can only find your own. Simon and John are examples, not patterns. They tell us: do not be afraid to be uncomfortable, do not be afraid to be silent, the main thing is to be faithful to what is inside you.

What their memory can give us today

In the age of digital noise, when each of us receives thousands of messages daily, when our lives become a public spectacle, Simon and John remind us of the main thing. Firstly, of the need for internal honesty. It is easier to be holy in the eyes of others than to be yourself. Simon destroyed this stereotype, choosing madness before the face of hypocritical righteousness. He showed that external appearance does not matter if there is a lie inside.

Secondly, of the value of silence. John teaches us that it is not necessary to be loud to be heard. Silence is a space where we can meet ourselves and God. Without silence our life turns into a race in a circle. That is why the day of remembrance of these saints is a call to slow down, take a break and ask yourself: \"Who am I? Where am I going? Why?\".

Thirdly, they teach us not to be afraid of non-standardness. Simon was a疯子, John — a hermit. Both were \"not of this world\". But it was this otherness that made them saints. We often fear to stand out, to be misunderstood. Their life is a proof that sometimes to be different from everyone is the only way to be real.

The Venerable Simon and John are not just names in the church calendar. They are living testimonies that a person can be free even in the most unfree situation. That holiness is not measured by external deeds, but by inner state. Their day of remembrance is not a reason for sadness, but an opportunity to remember the main thing. About the fact that each of us is called to something greater than just survival. About the fact that we can choose our own path — even if it seems mad or too quiet. And that at the end of this path — not emptiness, but fullness that cannot be bought or earned, but only acquired through faith and love.
