What is it about when conducting classes with female military personnel in the system of public and state training?
It is a well-known fact that men and women perceive and interpret information differently, think differently, and evaluate their role in society differently. These differences also exist in the military profession, where women are increasingly active. As of the beginning of 2000, there were over 500,000 women serving in the Russian military. This represents approximately 65% of the total number of soldiers and contract sergeants. Therefore, it is simply impossible to do without taking into account the so-called "female factor" in the army. In a situation where up to 60% of conscripts evade military service under various pretexts, and 35% of officers under the age of 35, according to personnel agencies, do not intend to extend their contracts, the Ministry of Defense is increasingly turning its attention to the female population as potential military personnel.
One of the most important factors determining the direction of the professional consciousness of military personnel is the training in the system of public and state training. Such training in public and state training is also conducted with female military personnel, who are divided into separate training groups. This is due to several reasons. Firstly, the military specialization of women, secondly, the specific features of their individual and personal psychology, and thirdly, the implementation of the principle of a differentiated approach to the training and education of military personnel.
Based on this, a natural question arises: should training sessions for women be conducted using special techniques, or is the methodology of these sessions universal for all categories of trainees?
A targeted study of the problem has shown that the head of the OGP classes cannot do without taking into account the following socio-psychological and individual-personal characteristics of women:
- increased emotional awareness

sensitivity, vulnerability, and reflection;
- a pronounced reaction to the lack of objectivity in assessing professional achievements and knowledge on the subject of the lesson;
- the connection between mental health and the monthly hormonal cycle and family problems;
- the desire to remain a woman in the military, regardless of the nature of her duties;
- the choice of military service primarily for socio-economic and financial reasons;
- high levels of responsibility, diligence, and personal organization, provided that the military unit has a healthy moral and psychological climate.
Colonel A. Kryshtalov, commander of the battalion of female cadets at the Moscow Military Institute of the Federal Border Service of Russia, claims that women perceive the learning process differently from men, and sometimes they even cry during arguments or even the slightest criticism from their instructors. This should be taken into account when working with female students.
Women are characterized by their vulnerability, heightened emotions, and heightened sense of self-worth. It is no coincidence that Queen Elizabeth of Romania described women as "living magnetic arrows pointing towards the poles of sensitivity." Therefore, when evaluating their knowledge, it is crucial for the instructor to be objective, respectful, and sensitive, as well as to be aware of the details of their female students' personal and family lives. When reviewing their lessons, it is essential to pay attention to the form and tone of their recommendations and comments. If the situation requires a serious conversation, it is advisable to provide recommendations using an individual approach rather than to the entire study group (unit).
According to social psychologists, in the 1999-2000 parliamentary and presidential elections, women were more likely to vote with their "heart." In the context of political science classes, this means that it is very important for women to feel a connection with their instructor. This can lead to increased engagement in the material, improved attention to the speaker's speech, and better retention of educational information. It is no coincidence that the renowned Swiss educator, Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, believed that "education is a theory of excitation." In this regard, L. S. Makarenko drew attention to the fact that the choice of means and methods of influencing the activation of cognitive activity of students is largely an educational task, since "images form feelings, and feelings affect the emotional attractiveness of the acquired knowledge." Therefore, the class leader should pay special attention to his appearance: when working with a female audience, be fit, neat, and confident. Such managers seem to "attract" female listeners and activate their emotional and imaginative thinking.
Scientists have proved that the peculiarities of thinking and perception of the world by a woman and a man are determined by the work of the hemispheres of their brain. The right hemisphere is usually responsible for emotions, creativity, intuition, artistry, and skill consolidation. Left - for rational-logical and abstract-figurative thinking, verbal communication, and new discoveries. Studies have shown that women are mostly right-brained, while men are mostly left-brained. Moreover, the number of interhemispheric connections in women is much higher than in men. Therefore, women are quicker to grasp information related to their personal professional and life experience. They are more likely to absorb the educational material presented in slides and video fragments. This should be taken into account when conducting classes with them.
When analyzing the psychological characteristics of a woman, it is impossible to avoid a very delicate and at the same time extremely important problem - women's "critical days". Among female communications officers, 78% of respondents noted that " commanders do not always take into account the peculiarities of female physiology and related well-being." But a wise executive officer should not avoid this problem.
Men and women have different attitudes towards work and career. "It is much more difficult for a woman than for a man to conform to an organized order," emphasized the famous French feminist Simone de Beauvoir. "A man conforms to it on his own as the central rule of his life. A woman, on the other hand, usually needs the help of a man in this process." Men view their career as an essential part of their lives. They tend to prioritize professional challenges over their family life. In such situations, women act differently, relying on the so-called "proven mechanism of their social and legal protection." However, this does not mean that women serve less conscientiously or exhibit negligence.
This means that women need a special approach based on tact and consideration of their psychological and social characteristics. This should also be taken into account when teaching them in the public education system.
A. Herzen also asked the question: "Do we have many people who are able to talk to a woman in a human way?" Today, when women's unemployment is increasing and discrimination against women in various fields of professional activity is taking place, this issue is still relevant. In a survey of 870 female military personnel from the Moscow and Leningrad Military Districts, respondents emphasized that women would like to see officers with leadership qualities such as decency (87%), justice (78%), attention to women's issues (69%), sensitivity (57%), patience (43%), restraint (41%), and others. "I would like officers to remember that we are not only soldiers, but also mothers and wives who rush home after work to create a comfortable environment for their husbands and provide warmth and care for their children.""quot;, - says Valentina N., a warrant officer from the Kaluga region.
In many army units, the heads of the Women's Group are skillful in finding an approach to female students during the organization and conduct of classes, showing the necessary tact and trying to understand the problems of female military personnel and help them in difficult situations.
It is no coincidence that the leaders of the women's groups, Majors A.A. Anikeev, E.Yu. Zaitsev, V.N. Ershov, Captain B.N. Shishov, and many others, are well-respected in the military.
Let's not forget the words of the great Russian writer D. Pisarev: "Let's look back at ourselves: let's see what we, the men of action and the men of thought, have given and are giving to our women. Let's look at ourselves and blush with shame..." So let's support the women in uniform! Let's help them find an interesting and fulfilling life in the military. After all, many of them have earned this right through their years of dedicated service, their professional abilities, and their qualities as highly skilled specialists.
