The Russian army has always been proud of its history. And one of the important historically established attributes of a military man is his uniform. Of course, the main thing in a military uniform is its functionality, but in the Russian army, beauty was also valued. It is no wonder that our army was considered one of the most fashionably dressed armies in the world. In addition, the style of the uniform, its colors, and individual attributes could be used to identify a soldier's regiment. However, history has made its own adjustments. The rules of modern warfare forced us to abandon bright colors. Nevertheless, the uniform of the Soviet Army, although it lost its multicolored appearance, still retained a certain charm, and young men willingly joined the army, proudly donning their military uniforms.

The story of the Russian army today is a cruel joke. Not only are the Armed Forces being economically and politically suffocated, but they have apparently decided to strip them of their clothes as well. We receive many letters to our editorial office complaining about the poor provision of uniforms for military personnel. Moreover, as it turns out, these are not isolated cases, but a nationwide trend. So, the Big Theatre's ticket-takers, who have seen a lot in their lives (for example, they have seen foreigners trying to get into the performance wearing shorts that look very much like satin "family" briefs), are perplexed when soldiers dressed in "camouflage" and high-topped boots come to the performances. Most soldiers simply do not have formal or weekend uniforms, and they are effectively replaced by their spotted field uniforms. However, there are regulations for providing military personnel with clothing. For clarity, we provide a list of items that are issued to those who serve in the military (Order No. 340 of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation dated September 17, 1996).

1. Uniforms

Artificial fur hat-shaped. 1 piece for the period of service (for the coastal forces of the Navy for 2 years).

Sheepskin fur hat with earflaps. 1 piece per service period (for the Navy and the Navy's coastal forces).

Wool cap (wool beret). 1 piece per service period (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Cotton cap. 1 piece per 1 year (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Woolen peaked cap. 1 piece per service life (for the Navy).

Summer peaked cap. 1 piece per 1 year (for the Navy).

Navy tape. 1 piece per 1 year (for the Navy).

Cotton cap. 1 piece per 1 year (for the Navy).

Winter woolen coat. 1 piece for the lifetime.

Woolen jacket (woolen overcoat for the Navy). 1 piece per service period.

Woolen trousers. 1 piece per service life (1 piece per 1 year for the Navy).

Shirt. 1 piece per 1 year (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Tie with a rivet. 1 piece per service life (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Flannel woolen shirt. 1 piece per 1 year of service (for the Navy).

Cotton uniform jacket. 1 piece per service life (for the Navy).

Uniform collar. 2 pieces per year (for the Navy).

Winter jacket with fur collar. 1 piece per service life (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Winter trousers. 1 piece per service life (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Cotton suit (straight jacket and trousers). 2 sets for 1 year.

Cashmere. 1 piece per service life.

Cotton training suit. 1 set for the service life.

2. Underwear

Underwear shirt (summer t-shirt for the Navy and the Navy's coastal forces). 2 pieces per year.

Cotton long johns. 2 pieces per 1 year.

Winter cotton shirt (winter t-shirt for the Navy and the Navy's coastal forces). 1 piece per 1 year.

Winter cotton long johns. 1 piece per 1 year.

Cotton T-shirt (sleeveless vest). 2 pieces per year.

Cotton briefs. 2 pieces per year.

Cotton towel. 3 pieces per year.

Cotton bath towel. 1 piece per 1 year.

Handkerchief. 3 pieces per 1 year (4 pieces per 1 year for the Navy).

Lapel (the corresponding amount of fabric). 12 pieces per year (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Summer cotton foot wrappings. 2 pairs per 1 year (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Cotton socks. 4 pairs per year (8 pairs per year for the Navy).

Winter foot wrappings. 2 pairs for 1 year (for ground forces and naval coastal forces).

Woolen socks. 1 pair per service life.

3. Shoes

Chrome boots. 1 pair per service life (for ground forces and the Navy).

High-top boots or welted boots with artificial leather tops. 3 pairs for the duration of service (1 pair per 1 year for naval coastal forces).

Barracks slippers. 1 pair per service period.

Sports shoes. 1 pair per lifetime.

4. Gloves

Cotton knitted gloves. 1 pair per service life.

Winter cotton gloves. 1 pair per 1 year.

5. Equipment

Leather belt. 1 piece for the lifetime.

Trouser belt. 1 piece per service life.

This is the kind of kit that soldiers and sailors are supposed to have. Let's hope that the government will soon allow its young defenders to see these items in their military wardrobes.
