The name of the writer Pyotr PROSKURIN is familiar to anyone who is at least slightly educated. The generation of the 1970s was brought up on his books. And the films based on the novels "Destiny" and "Your Name" were shown in crowded cinemas in dozens of countries. In his books, Pyotr Proskurin created heroic images of his compatriots and showed the beauty and richness of the Russian national character. Today, the writer continues to work. In recent years, Pyotr Proskurin has published a book of short stories called "The Fiery Angel".quot;, short stories and novellas "I will repay you, Lord", novels "The Number of the Beast" and "The Seventh Watch" in " Modern Writer "and in"Roman-gazeta". Pyotr Lukich is co-chairman of the Writers ' Union of Russia. He is a Hero of Socialist Labor, an academician of the International Slavic Academy. Pushkin Academies and the Academy of Russian Literature. In recent years, the writer has won the Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Sholokhov Awards. The heroes of many of his works are people in uniform who are loyal to their oath, conscience, and duty.

- Pyotr Lukich, the novel "Exodus" and the trilogy "Destiny", "Your Name", and "Renunciation" show the heroism of the Russian people and their sacrifice for their homeland. Your characters, from soldiers and partisans to generals, marshals, and generalissimos, share a common goal: to survive, win, and revive and strengthen their country. In your opinion, do the current defenders of the Fatherland possess the same sense of patriotism and duty?

- No matter how much scientific and technological progress has developed or how much military technology has changed, a person's character, willpower, and beliefs always play a crucial role. It is no coincidence that Stalin introduced the Orders of the Great Russian Commanders and Naval Officers during the height of the war. This boosted the morale of the soldiers and united them. The sense of patriotism is a powerful force, and not only during wartime. In the trilogy, I tried to show the selflessness on the front lines and in the rear, the clear actions and will of the army headquarters, and the state wisdom of the high command, including Stalin. I also tried to show the true patriots who were willing to give their lives for their homeland. This is my General Lukin. In the novel "The Exodus," there is Captain Trofimov. Even when he is surrounded, he continues to fight, organizing resistance and leading a partisan unit. And how many people like the hero of the novel Skvortsov repeated the feat of Ivan Susanin!.. The heroes of the story "Human Love" - a colonel and his son, a captain surrounded, save the banner. Heroism is shown by the military in the story "The Bridge". In one of his latest works, "Return to Myself," the protagonist, a former paratrooper who fought in Afghanistan, engages in a battle with the current mafia and, at the cost of his own health, frees a young boy who was being forced to beg.

- Petr Lukich, I know that you are a frequent guest in military garrisons. Please tell us about your meetings with current military personnel.

- I had unforgettable meetings with officers of the Amur Flotilla, border guards, and the ship "Grozny" near Khabarovsk, as well as in Kamchatka and on nuclear submarines in Severomorsk. I visited military units many times and participated in the "North-South" military maneuvers.

So I know firsthand about the lives of officers and soldiers. I often ask them for help. When I was writing the novel "Your Name," which depicts the development of the military-industrial complex and space exploration, I consulted with military pilots and cosmonauts such as German Titov and Vitaly Sevastyanov.

- Unfortunately, school textbooks do not cover the history and literature of recent decades. However, art plays a crucial role in education, particularly in shaping the defenders of their country. How do you think this affects the moral health of the nation?

- Of course, literature, art, and culture play a crucial role in education. They lay the foundation for a person's morality. The culture of a nation determines the culture of the state in which it lives. The army is an integral part of the state, and officers are an integral part of the nation. I believe that a new national elite is emerging within the nation, including in the army, and that this elite will be able to lead Russia into a new orbit. It is worth remembering Leo Tolstoy, who showed heroism in Sevastopol and later created the unforgettable character of Andrei Bolkonsky in War and Peace, a hero and patriot. In the Russian army, officers were always highly educated and had a strong sense of true patriotism. There can be no love for one's homeland without knowledge of one's history and the traditions of one's people. This love is nurtured by true literature. This is the foundation of the great creative power of patriotism.

- Pyotr Lukich, revealing the breadth of the human soul and the depth of human feelings, you show the human being in harmony with nature, admiring his native land, and working selflessly. So what do you think is the strength of the Russian people?

- In his roots and his sense of patriotism. Nature plays a big role in a person's development. For example, spending time in the forest strengthens one's spirituality and shapes one's character. When one is in the forest, they tend to look up at the sky and listen to their own soul. The strength of a Russian person's character is also revealed through collective work. Russian people have always been drawn to collective efforts. Even today, the old Cossack motto of "no bond stronger than camaraderie" remains alive in any military or naval unit.

I set myself the task of creating an image of a man from the Russian countryside. In Zakhar Deryugin from "Destiny," I have summarized the traits of a Russian man from the heartland of Russia, which is the cradle of the nation. And the characters in my other novels also possess these qualities.

- You have lived and worked in different regions and parts of Russia. Has this had any impact on your work? Please tell us a little about yourself.

- I was born in the village of Kositsy.

Sevsky district of the Bryansk region in a peasant family. After the army, he worked as a raftsman, logger, and driver on a timber farm in Kamchatka. Having left for the mainland, in Khabarovsk, he began to write. In 1960, I published my first novel, Deep Wounds, which was reprinted three times. I wrote the novel" Bitter Herbs " while studying at the Higher Literary Courses in Moscow. When I returned to Khabarovsk, I came up with the idea of a huge epic, a trilogy of novels: "Destiny," "Your Name," and "Renunciation." As an author, I was interested in the language itself. In the Far East, there were no powerful layers of the Great Russian language that had been developed over centuries. To experience its richness, I traveled to Oryol. There, I wrote the novel "Exodus." Later, I was invited to work for the newspaper Pravda, and I moved to Moscow. My wife, Liana Rustamova, a theater critic and member of the Writers' Union, worked for many years at the same newspaper. My son, Alexey, who is now the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Economic Newspaper, and my daughter, Katerina, also became journalists. May God bless them in raising their children during this difficult time.

- As a writer who came from the depths of the people, who serves them with his heart, mind, and talent, you can't help but think about why the country's collapse, the economic downturn, and the agricultural crisis occurred simultaneously. Science, culture, and the military are on a tight budget. Real literature is being replaced by pulp fiction and simplistic translations of foreign third-rate novels and detective stories. Is there any hope that the people and the military will regain their spirit, that the fields will flourish, that the farms will revive, and that the factories will start operating? The pit we fell into is too deep. Will we reach the power we had ten years ago, when we were respected in the world?

- My novel "The Number of the Beast" about the Brezhnev era has just been published in Roman-Gazeta. In this work, I have tried to answer the questions that all patriots are asking: what happened to the country and the nearly 20 million members of the Communist Party, and how could such catastrophic changes occur? I wanted to show that cracks in the foundation of our system were already present during the Brezhnev era. Even then, a fifth column was active, fueled and supported by foreign centers and foundations. Some were sold, and others decayed.

The last bastions of our culture, spirituality, and literature are now being destroyed. Throughout my life, I have been involved in the creation and strengthening of these eternal bastions, and in my opinion, they remain the last strongholds on the path to the complete destruction of Russian national identity. Statehood, patriotism, and nationalism are the cornerstones upon which Russian politics should be built. Without a Russian national idea that can unite all the healthy forces of society, we will not be able to escape the chaos that has been caused by false reforms.

- You wrote about the cracks that undermined the foundation during the Brezhnev era. But wasn't there a thoughtless and hasty reduction of the army and weapons under Khrushchev? In the early 1960s, hundreds of newspapers and magazines were shut down, and dozens of publishing houses were liquidated. At the same time, 14,000 Orthodox churches were closed and plundered. Centuries-old traditions and crafts were shattered. Although freedom is now encouraged, there was so much destruction that the working class has little to hold on to. What is the solution?

- You're right. Our people are living in the worst possible way. And the army is now among the poorest. And teachers, and doctors. And even writers don't have enough money to publish their books. I believe that people should be united by national interests. No one but us can save our traditions and our sacred sites. We need a state strategy and tactics in the arms market to equip the army as the natural and only defender of our borders.

There should be a healthy, non-distorted national policy. The Russian people can be said to be the backbone of the state that has been building it for centuries. The salvation lies in the revival of national dignity and our own path. The Russian people, when they realize that they are a heroic people, are invincible. Every thinking person, every enlightened Russian patriot, must now stand on the sacred frontiers of culture and spirituality, and there is no other option. Our people must accomplish this feat. It is better to die standing up than to live in the reservations assigned to us by the international community, in slavery, on our knees.

I belong to the older generation that created the unique Soviet civilization that shook the planet in the 20th century with its enormous achievements in the economic, military-industrial, and social spheres, as well as its high level of spirituality, culture, and education.

For me and my generation, the country's recovery is an opportunity to build a bridge to the future through our sons and grandsons, to bring about a change in the mindset of our society, which must mature and gather strength to make a leap from the edge of the abyss we have been balancing on for the past ten tragic years, towards a rational and meaningful construction of a future Russia that will take the best from its historical path. I firmly believe in this great future for Great Russia, which it deserves, just as a nation with a heroic past deserves a great future.
