As is well known, the Law of the Russian Federation "On Military Duty and Military Service" provides for the introduction of insignia in the military according to the affiliation of specific military units. Thus, the tradition that was widespread in the Russian army has been restored. The editorial board of "Orientir" has also decided to continue this glorious tradition and establish its own insignia. True, we are not many years old, but if we take into account the historical past of such solid and respected publications as the Communist of the Armed Forces-later the Army magazine, the Warrior's Interlocutor, the weekly Son of the Fatherland, of which Orientir is the legal successor, then it also inherits numerous traditions and the glorious deeds of their predecessors.
The Orienteer magazine badge is designed in compliance with all heraldic requirements and emblematic rules. It is an oval formed from a laurel and oak wreaths made of white metal. In the center is the heraldic symbol of the Russian Armed Forces - a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, holding a sword and a wreath in its talons, with the word Orienteer written in gold on a azure field. At the bottom of the sign, there is an open book and a pen, symbolizing our work as journalists. Each sign has its own number engraved on the reverse side.
It should be added that the sign was developed with the help of experts from the regional public organization "Academy of Russian Symbolism MARS", and it was manufactured at the factory of orders, medals, and tokens of LLC "Oryol i K".
